In the past, about a month since I have temporarily come back to Fukuoka, I am attending this exciting and professionally organized yet casual atmosphere of meetup almost regularly.

"Weekly gathering for business-minded individuals to meet and talk about business, life, & dreams" stated as their event description. The hosts are Bruce and Luis, both seem to be from the United States but have been here in Fukuoka for multiple decades. They are friendly, welcoming, and cooperative people. Luis, who is one of the most well-known entrepreneurs in Fukuoka, told me they are hosting this meetup since the past around two years. 

So far, I attended the Startup Fukuoka three times since the end of October, and I met new people every time. At the beginning of the evening, the hosts suggest all attendees introduce themselves and let them express the business challenges they want to overcome in Fukuoka, the domestic and international markets. People from a variety of business domains, such as IT, distribution, food & beverage, whole selling, and restaurants, come together, discuss their problems, and exchange ideas.  

I only stay for the first one hour each time, but I believe it is going to be an excellent networking opportunity if you are ready to be there for two hours, that is their official time. Everyone I met in the event is so cooperative that sometimes they keep providing me the information I inquired in the evening afterward. Also, I met a couple of people who had visited India in the early or mid-'90's, much before I started living there. 

The Meetup is in their Happy Hours slot so you can enjoy a glass or two of beer or wine at a 50% discount. Lastly and most importantly, the co-owner of The Off Broadway Tomoko-san is so charming and attentive that you will instantly feel at home.
