My friend R-san knows the best of all the best restaurants in Fukuoka and takes me to the new, exciting places whenever I am back in town. Yesterday, she took me to this super popular gibier speciality food stall "Jounetsu-no Chidori-ashi (meaning, 'passionately walks in tipsy stagger'") in Tenjin, standing in front of the department store "Loft.".
Whereabout of "Jounetsu-no Chidori-ashi"
Traditionally, most of the food stalls called "yatai" in Fukuoka would serve ramen noodles for those who had enjoyed drinks that night yet been having room for additional "snacks." In recent years, however, many new ideas of yatai delicacies have been coming up, including French cuisines. "Jounetsu-no Chidori-ashi" is also one of those new waves of yatai; they don't serve ramen but all other delicious nibbles and appetisers, like pan-fried dumplings ("gyoza,") omelets ("tamago-yaki,"), skewed meats ("kushi-yaki.")
If you are in Fukuoka, it's definitely worth visiting here. Oh, don't forget to say "hi" to my friend R-san who is a regular there!
Simple yet everything; their menu.
The master chef in a full-swing of preparation.
Mentaiko tamagoyaki with edible flower petals. Yummy!
Crowded with tourists.
