英語では十分な情報がすでにあるので、ここはあえて、わが家での体験談を順を追って綴ろうと思う。
まず、インド人のポルトガル・ビザ申請に関する情報は、ここにすべて記載してある（英語）。

シッダールタさんはインド旅券保持者のだめ、当然シェンゲン・ビザの取得手続きが必要だ。
まずは渡航先となるポルトガルのビザ申請用ポータルからオンライン申請を行う。

オンライン申請が完了したら、プネ住民は管轄となるムンバイのシェンゲン・ビザ・センターに電話して、窓口のアポイントメントを行い、指定した日時までに必要書類をすべて用意して持参する。
その際、ビザ・センターでは指紋を取られ、写真を撮られる。
ビザ申請手数料およそ7,000ルピーを支払う。
初めてシェンゲン・ビザ適用国を訪問する場合、または最後に訪問してから3年以上経過している場合、ゴアのポルトガル総領事館に召喚されるので、そこで個別面談を受ける必要がある。
この面談のアポイントメントは、ムンバイのビザ・センターが取ってくれる。
指定された日時にゴアのパナジ（Panjim）にあるポルトガル総領事館にパスポートを持参し、面談に臨む。
待ち時間30分、面談時間は15分程度。
この時、申請者のパスポートは回収される。
面談してくれた査証担当官は女性で、「なぜポルトガルへ赴くのか」などの簡単な質問に答えると、大変フレンドリーに「ポルトガルは美しい国よ、旅行を楽しんでね！」と言ってくれたそうだ。
その後、申請が受理されれば4日ほどで、シェンゲン・ビザが貼付されたパスポートがブルー・ダート（Blue Dart）で自宅に届く。
ちなみに、万一ビザが取得できなかった場合は何も貼付されないパスポートが送り返されてくるが、ビザ申請手数料は返金されないので、リスボンでのホテルは「仮押さえ」状態（キャンセル料なしの物件を仮予約）で申請に臨む。
ちなみに日本旅券を持っている人は、6ヶ月間で90日間以内の滞在であれば、シェンゲン・ビザが適用される各国へは残存期間が6ヶ月以上のパスポートのみで入国できる。
これは当たり前のことではないし、ほんとに便利なことなんだっていう感謝を噛み締めつつ、色々な国へ出かけたいものだ。
だって、日本旅券保持者だってインド入国には面倒なビザの手続きがいるしね（わたしは生涯有効ビザ（OCI）を持っているから、これもいらないけど）。

以下では、インド人の観光シェンゲン・ビザ申請手続きに必要とされた書類の情報を、旅行会社の人に教えてもらったまま記載する。
それにしても15項目もの書類、準備するだけでも気が遠くなりそうだが、どこの国へ行くにもだいたい同じ書類を要求されることから、わが家ではすべて常に手元に置いておいて、必要になったらすぐに申請できるようにしている（書類の内容は定期的に更新するが）。
何らかの参考になれば幸いである。
1. Application form completely filled and signed by the applicant.
2. Two Recent (not older than six months)passport-size photographs in colour with white background. (3.5cm / 4.5cm) (Do not Staple)
3. The Passport should be valid for at least three months (any other type of travel document should be valid for at least six months), beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory and with at least two blank pages to affix the visa. No visa will be issued on the additional page of the passport. Previous passport if any
4. Covering letter explaining the purpose of the visit with complete and full address and contacts of host/relative/hotel in Portugal.
It is also mandatory to mention applicant’s personal address on the covering letter on which passport has to be couriered. Applicant's passport will not be couriered to their travel agencies 'addresses as directed by the Embassy.
5. Proof of accommodation (confirmation of reservation of hotel/apartment).
6. Overseas travel medical insurance valid for all Schengen-countries .The insurance has to cover the applicant for at least 30,000 Euros or equivalent, for all risks e.g. accident, illness, medical emergency evacuation etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the entire duration of the trip including the date of arrival and departure.
7. Flight Tickets onward/return.
8. Proof of sufficient funds to cover all expenses while in Portugal:
o Bank Statements for the last 3 months
o Copy Income Tax Returns for the last 3 years self/company
o Copy Salary Slips (if working).
o Copy of Pan Card
9. Proof of occupation
10. Foreign nationals residing in India must submit valid permit to return to India.
11. Minors below 18 years travelling alone must submit the written consent of their parents/ guardian.
12. As per instruction received from Consulate General of Portugal Goa, minors travelling in the absence of any one or both parents an NOC signed by both parents and duly attested by the Notary and Mantralaya is required.
13. Declaration form granting SEF(Foreign and borders office)permission for consulting criminal records in Portugal(not required for minors below 16 years)

Note:
1. Applicant could be asked for additional documents or may be called for an Interview if desired by The Embassy of Portugal, New Delhi/Consulate General of Portugal,Goa.
2. Applicants (Adults & Children) applying through the Consulate General of Portugal in Goa will be required to appear for a personal Interview if there has been no travel to a Schengen country within the last 3 years at the time of submission. The Visa Application Centre shall help you take an appointment for the same.
3. The visa fee, according to Schengen regulations, is non-refundable.
4. Carry All documents in Original at the time of interview.
