After delivering my work due this morning, we hopped on 10:16 bus departed from Hakata Highway Bus Terminal and after two hours of the comfortable ride, arrived Nagasaki at around 13:15.
Our primary purpose of this short trip to Nagasaki was to show Radha-chan the Atomic Bomb Museum. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are well-known among Indian students as they learn the hardship and the subsequent miraculous development in two cities and Japan.
Before visiting the museum, we had lunch at Kojoko, a place where we can eat the popular local food Sara-udon.
Sara-udon, Hoso-men (crispy noodle)
Sara-udon, Futo-men (soft noodle)
After lunch, we headed to the museum and spent the time from around 3-4PM. In spite of suffering from the ugliest act of human-being, people in Nagasaki had undefeated positive spirits. Letters from the survivors to their loved ones who were killed by the bomb brought us tears. The history exhibited on the wall near the exit shows that those two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were clearly a part of the US's experiments of the newly-built nuclear arm.
Peace Park
We proceeded to the Peace Memorial Park. That day we had scorching and humid weather in Nagasaki, seemingly the similar weather the bomb was dropped over the sky 71 years before.
Our heart went to the people who desperately wanted but
could not reach out to the water.
Peace Statue, powerful man who guarantees the strong determination of
the people in Nagasaki who would never want to repeat the war.
Dejima
Our short trip was concluded with Dejima visit, a sole overseas trading point during Japan was closing the country in Sakoku era.
Tram in sunset.
We utilized the tram with One-day Tram tickets
We took the bus to Fukuoka from the terminal in front of Nagasaki station at 19:15, so our less than 6-hour short visit to Nagasaki concluded by the comfortable ride. I highly recommend this mode of transportation for a brief visit from Fukuoka to nearby tourist attractions. Next time, we want to stay at least a night at Nagasaki to enjoy the night view from Inasayama hill.
