My mother one day told me that she found on a TV program introducing an unusual Indian restaurant in Fukuoka; according to her, they served cuisines from central India, specifically the city called Nagpur.

Nagpur has a special place in my heart. It is the city I have visited since I started living in India to meet Siddharth's aunt and her family. Siddharth went to the university in the town, where he spent significant time during his youth.

That is why, upon discovering this unique restaurant, Midori Store in Fukuoka, run by two brothers who proudly introduced Japan's only Saoji delicacies, we were eager to experience it.

Their menu was simple:
* Saoji with jeera rice with/without roti
* Phoenix curry on jeera rice
* Both Saoji and Phoenix on the sides of the jeera rice strip

While Saoji was named "big brother's special," Phoenix was "baby brother's original."

Saoji was full-flavored with rich spices yet moderately spicy compared with local dishes in Nagpur, which was the perfect introduction to the Japanese people's taste buds. On the other hand, Phoenix was mild, yet one could feel underlined umami, which conveyed the baby brother's keen sense inherited from being a former Italian chef.

Visiting Midori Store is not just a meal; it's a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure that should be noticed by everyone visiting Fukuoka.
