The entire setup is well made to appear the modern humans' instinct and lure their purchasing motivation.

Finally, I found a supermarket in Fukuoka installing handheld devices for the customers to scan and pay by themselves, and I excitedly tried it for the first time in my life.

Here we go:

The specially designed shopping carts had a placeholder for the device, so the customers did not need to hold it in their hands.

You pick a product and scan its barcode by the device's camera by touching the "Scan" button on the screen, just like you take a picture with your smartphone.

When you are ready to pay, press the "Payment" button in the bottom right corner and "OK" on the popup.

Then, you scan the above 2-D barcode as the screen prompts.

Go to the payment terminal number shown on your device, and pay it.
